Redwood City, CA – The Board of Directors of the Child Care Coordinating Council of San Mateo County, Inc. (4Cs) is pleased to announce the unanimous appointment of current First 5 Program Specialist, David Fleishman, as 4Cs Executive Director. The Board’s decision comes with full confidence that David will continue to be a wonderful steward of 4Cs’ mission to create quality child care and preschool opportunities that lead to success for the children and families of San Mateo County.

David comes with over 20 years of educational leadership and completes his recent tenure as the Early Learning Program Specialist at First 5 San Mateo County. During his time at First 5, David was responsible for the development and oversight of grants to nonprofits and public agencies that support children and families in San Mateo County. Prior, he was the Director of Provider Services at a San Francisco resource and referral agency that focuses on early childhood educators and San Francisco children ages 0-5. David has decades of professional support in the early childhood and education arena. Additionally, David is a general member of two local councils, the Peninsula Partnership Leadership Council and the San Mateo Child Care Partnership Council. His depth of experience as an educator, director of programs, senior management, and fund manager of programs will serve 4Cs well.

David says of his new position, “I am delighted to join the dedicated staff and Board of Directors as Executive Director of 4Cs. All children deserve access to high quality early care and education settings, and all early childhood educators must have the support they need to provide it. In this county of great wealth and extreme poverty, I look forward to working with 4Cs staff and Board to ensure that all families have the resources they need to support their child’s early success.”

Board Chair Carla Schoof adds, “The Board of Directors is excited to welcome David to 4Cs. His experience in delivering and managing child care and early childhood education programs coupled with his passion for the field makes him an excellent choice as the Executive Director of 4Cs. We are looking forward to David’s leadership as he, the Board and 4Cs staff continues the important work of supporting families in securing quality child care and early education services and advocating for providers and educators in San Mateo County.”

David received his bachelor’s degree in psychology with honors from Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in special education from Bank Street College of Education. He will take up his position as Executive Director on July 29, 2014.
