Connecting Family Child Cares to Families
Our annual Family Child Care Preview Fair took place on March 23rd at the San Mateo Adult School. This year, we had 12 family child care providers representing various cities of the County as exhibitors and nearly 100 individuals attended the event.
With the support of the San Mateo Adult School, Second Harvest Food Bank, First 5 San Mateo County (F5SMC) and Star Vista, we were able to provide families a forum to meet with potential child care providers and to connect to vital community resources. Many families were looking for care for their young children and brought their children along. While parents met and mingled with child care providers, children received door prizes, had access to a play zone and enjoyed snacks.
For many parents, it was their first time seeking child care. 4C’s staff provided support through our on-site resource and referral services, and on-site application assistance for financial aid. Many families ended up setting up site tours with family child care providers and have since reported back that they intend to enroll into the home of a provider they met at our event.
We are grateful for all the support that went into the success of this event and look forward to having an even bigger event next year!
